Google Wave completely redefines "email". The project is astounding and the technology is far ahead of its time. The hosted web conversation makes sense and intuitive after only minutes of use.

6 - Predictions:

1) Just like what happened with Gmail in 2004, more invites will be given out! :)
2) More people will sign up...not having an "invite" creates the type of suspense and buzz Google wants! (they could have more users right now if they wanted).
3) Will take 2-3 years for Google Wave to become mainstream
4) With open API, the possibilities are limitless - should be huge success.
5) Future generations will conceptualize "email" much differently than we ever did. Good for them.
6) Google Wave helps people/ business become more comfortable with open source technology. As a result, more documents become stored in the cloud.

Like everyone else, I think Wave is going to be cool, but it's hard to get going with so few users. Unlike GMail, which you could use with everyone else's currently existing e-mail and Google Docs, which was cool whether anyone else used it or not, Google Wave is unique and, therefore, lonely.

Outstanding Pic!

I've been thinking about this myself while testing the beta. Lots of promise. Hard to assess the utility of the program without having a significant group of users. Seems to me the only way to reach a critical mass of user would be to cut over all Gmail accounts to this interface at some point in the future - and risk all that would entail. I suppose G could always offer a "traditional" Gmail interface as a backup.....

What are your thoughts on the next 6-12 months re: wave? Predictions?
