Google vs. Bing

Jul 4th, 2009 | By Rex Gradeless | Category: Featured, Practice Management, Web 2.0

Ever since Microsoft launched its new search engine Bing, many have compared Bing to the gold standard of all search engines- Google.

Does Bing have a better interface?  Is it an improvement over Microsoft’s Live search?  Will Bing change interface for holidays?  And most importantly, does Bing provide better  search results than Google?

Any thoughts?  Please provide a comment below.

  1. I was a little disappointed with Bing when I first visited it, after watching the promotional video. Bing didn’t seem as good as the video suggested it would be. Perhaps it will improve over time.

Have you noticed any substantive difference between Bing and Google? Running the same search queries in both seem to yield substantially similar results. Bing seems to market themselves as the cure for “search overload syndrome”. Some interesting search results here:

    Google searching “google” – http://bit.ly/qX7CL
    Google search “bing” – http://bit.ly/JZJkK
    Bing search “google” – http://bit.ly/12yCV4
    Bing search “bing” – http://bit.ly/145Z0a

Notice how Bing only has 1 result for “Google”!

    On a related note…

Check out Unified Search. It’s a cool new FireFox addon that lets you compare side-by-side search results from Bing and Google. It’s may be a pretty useful tool for some.
