Online Privacy v. Defamation Law

Does it stand when people use it as a shield to harm others, to damage their reputations? Last week Google was forced by the court to reveal the identity of an anonymous blogger who had defamed another.

Madeleine began studying Law at the University of Waikato, New Zealand and is currently in the final stages of her undergraduate degree through the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She has a strong interest in philosophy of law and in rights and freedoms and is currently undertaking supervised research on Freedom of Religion. She intends to do a post-graduate degree in Jurisprudence.
She is a former Woman's Rights Officer and Vice-President of the University of Waikato Students Union and has been involved in both the running and leadership of several civil liberties and charitable organisations. She was working full time as a legal assistant for a large New Zealand firm primarily dealing with contract, intellectual property and employment law until a car accident took her out of the workforce leaving her able to focus on resuming and completing her law degree.
